As Russel Hobbs somewhat mysteriously explained of the episodic ‘Song Machine’ project in 2020: "Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do, Gorillaz breaking the mould ‘cos the mould got old.” Kicking off in January 2020 with ‘Momentary Bliss’ (ft. slowthai and Slaves), Song Machine was the ongoing and ever-evolving process which saw Gorillaz joined by an expanding roster of collaborators captured live in Kong Studios and beyond.
