The Centurion is widely regarded as one of the most successful tank designs of all time. Conceived during the closing years of WWII to counter the German Tigers and Panthers, it arrived just as the war ended. However, it went on to become the backbone of the British Army for decades.

The Mk.5 variant (introduced in the mid-1950s) was a major evolution, featuring:
